Requiem for a Light

Lately I've been in one of those learning moods. No, not one of those study for the classes I've signed up for this semester. Mostly I've been interested in LED Lights and what is actually going on inside those tiny little gadgets. So one hour later after browsing Wikipedia I find myself now an expert on Light-Emitting-Diodes. I could explain in big geeky terms just how they work but unless you understand the energy clouds of atoms that house electrons its all going to sound foreign to you. But trust me, its cool. I've been trying to find some light source for our fish tank and I've played with the idea of setting up my own LED array of different colors for the tank. My only issue with LED's is that as cool as they are they are nothing like natural light from the sun.
Our Neighbor is actually a plant science major at USU and is studing the effects of LED's on plants (this work may or may not be related to growing plants on the international space station). Until I make up my mind on how light the aquarium we're going to stick with these cool little sinking LED's we found at Micheal's craft store for 50%.

Leaves are falling all around

I love fall! All the pretty colors and the nice crisp feeling in the air. We just finished decorating for fall.
I am loving the Indian corn and pumpkins we found. They definitely give our apartment a fall feeling.

 we changed things around. I am so happy I had Jake to help me move things around, things went so much faster. I LOVE our new layout. By just rearranging our furniture we have SO much more room. It feels like we're in a new apartment. Anyways, on to the pictures.....

{365}

I've decided to do something different for 2011.
There's a thing called the 365 Project. For the project you take a picture every day for a year. By doing this you document what you've done, seen, or whatever for that year. I thought this sounded pretty cool so on January First I started taking pictures. Now I'm definitely not a Professional Photographer so these pictures aren't meant to be amazing. Each picture I take will represent what I did that day, what I'm wearing, something I ate, what my surrounding look like, something I think is awesome, ect.
Here are the pictures I've taken for the first 7 days of the New Year.

Day One {January 1}
This is how I started out my new year.....with some medicine and a box of tissues.

Day Two {January 2}
 For some odd reason I've been in an organizing mood. I started out by organizing our Front Room Closet.
It may look a bit squished in there but at least its organized and you don't get bombarded with stuff when you open the door :)

Day Three {January 3}
 My yellow coat came in the mail!!!!! YAY!

Day Four {January 4}
 This is our beautiful Front Door.

Day Five {January 5}
 I made mini chocolate cakes for the both of us. They were delicious!

Day Six {January 6}
For our wedding one of the ladies in Jakes ward made us some cute knit hot pads. While I was cleaning out the Kitchen I found this heart one and decided to use it as part of our Valentine decor. I think it turned out pretty cute!

Day Seven {January 7}
I made this way cute Earring holder out of an Altoids mint tin!

so excited!!!

As you may know i love to decorate, but because we are newlyweds and low on funds decorating has been put on the back burner. I personally hate not decorating. What fun is Halloween or fall or Christmas without decorations? I've held out for the major sales that go on after each holiday. Unfortunately the items i was looking forward to having did not decrease in price as much as I'd hoped they would.

Some of you might be in this same situation.
Fortunately for the both of us there are some awesome cheap options.

to find out how to make these awesome pumpkins go here.

enjoy!

apartment sweet apartment {kitchen pics}

 Its KITCHEN time! here are some pic's of how our kitchen has turned out....

 I am in LOVE with birds! These salt and pepper shakers from Tai Pan Trading are my FAVORITE!
Tai Pan is the BEST store EVER!  btw, if you haven't been go!

Jake LOVES disco balls, so for his birthday i got him this mini one that has a home right above our stove.
It's always a party in the Wood house!
When we were registering for items (for our wedding) I was hoping that someone would get us this tiered server plate thing....sadly no one did. BUT! we got many gift cards so we were able to get it after all! whoohoo!
 I hate peppers, but i love the way they look :)
That bean clock is awesome, it goes perfectly in the kitchen and matches ALL our colors!
 Aren't these scrubbies amazingly cute!?! My grandma made them for us...they are way too cute to use
and so they become decoration.

What do you think of our little apartment so far?
