its time for spring! {new look}

I don't know about you guys but I am ready for spring!
Logan has been having some nice warm weather lately {mixed in with some not-so-nice days}
and so I decided to change the look of our blog once again to match the season.

Lets hope that the weather keeps getting better from here on out! :)

I have always wanted mini headers for the things on our sidebar and this time I finally
got around to making some.

There might be a few others ones coming in the next day or two.
maybe.

I love lamp

I just wanted to share a craft that I just made with you guys!

Andrea {Jakes sister} just had her 12th birthday so we needed a gift to take down
on our next visit to Utah Valley.
I just found a base at D.I. and a shade at Ross for pretty cheap.

Her room has fun bright colors so I chose a fun blue that would go with everything.
I spray painted the base and then covered the shade with ruffles.

And here is the finished product!

It turned out pretty cute :)

I love it, what do you think?

I'm linking up to Tatertots and Jello, check it out!

so excited!!!

As you may know i love to decorate, but because we are newlyweds and low on funds decorating has been put on the back burner. I personally hate not decorating. What fun is Halloween or fall or Christmas without decorations? I've held out for the major sales that go on after each holiday. Unfortunately the items i was looking forward to having did not decrease in price as much as I'd hoped they would.

Some of you might be in this same situation.
Fortunately for the both of us there are some awesome cheap options.

to find out how to make these awesome pumpkins go here.

enjoy!

apartment sweet apartment {kitchen pics}

 Its KITCHEN time! here are some pic's of how our kitchen has turned out....

 I am in LOVE with birds! These salt and pepper shakers from Tai Pan Trading are my FAVORITE!
Tai Pan is the BEST store EVER!  btw, if you haven't been go!

Jake LOVES disco balls, so for his birthday i got him this mini one that has a home right above our stove.
It's always a party in the Wood house!
When we were registering for items (for our wedding) I was hoping that someone would get us this tiered server plate thing....sadly no one did. BUT! we got many gift cards so we were able to get it after all! whoohoo!
 I hate peppers, but i love the way they look :)
That bean clock is awesome, it goes perfectly in the kitchen and matches ALL our colors!
 Aren't these scrubbies amazingly cute!?! My grandma made them for us...they are way too cute to use
and so they become decoration.

What do you think of our little apartment so far?

{photo fun}

For our thank-you cards we decided to to do a postcard kinda look with a picture of us holding a thank-you sign on one side and the note on the the other. They look really cute!
The pictures are adorable but i have no use for a picture that says thank you on it so
i decided to play around and change it up :)
Here is what i did....

i quite like the results, what do you think?

{32 days}

what a month! I've decided that i quite enjoy being married. Jake is better then the most fantastic husband a girl could ask for! he loves to cook and clean and give me back/foot rubs. he'll listen to me and even help me decorate. he is definitely wonder man :D . hehe speaking of decorating.... Jake and i have had some disagreements about whether the walls should remain white, empty and bleak or they should become decorated, beautiful and happy. simple decision i think. i won out in the end and Jake helped me put pictures cute shelves and such on the walls. our apartment is now a most wonderful place. yay! I'm extremely glad to be rid of the boxes and clutter. moving is not a fun thing so we've decided to stay put for as long as possible. hopefully this will prevent much sorrow and frustration in the wood home.

we went fly fishing! wow! I've changed my mind about fishing thanks to Donnie Howell.
Donnie took us fishing this morning and i loved every minute of it. Jake even caught a fish (not a very smart one though cause it got caught twice today). i even got a chance at this fishing thing and though i didn't catch a fish i had fun. there is something peaceful about flinging your pole and line about while standing in cold water wearing a weird getup. don't know how but it is definitely a stress reliever. anyways... i learned something new today: polarized sunglasses let you see through the water to where the fishies are hanging out. its pretty awesome, you should check it out sometime. :D

its almost midnight so i shall finish and write again another day! good night!

mashed potatoes and bare walls

And it came to pass that in the second week of the reign of the woods over the number six apartment there came a hunger over the home. Both were very hungry and had no idea what to eat. then like mana from heaven we looked in the cupboard and found two bags of instant potato mix. One was for garlic and seasoning while the other was for buttery red potatoes. it was decided to try the garlic potatoes first seeing as they had more color and flavor. NOTE TO THE READER, altitude changes everything when your cooking. That means when you are cooking from high elevations such as Logan, Utah one must remember to not use as much water when making instant anything. Otherwise mashed potatoes turn into MUSHED potatoes. At that point Kylee decided to leave and put me in charge of fixing our potato soup, a challenge I was willing to accept. flour, bisquick and even heating it more in the microwave didn't work. So, i grabbed the bag of red potato mix so as to balance out the mixture. after finishing off more than half of the red potatoes i had finally done it. I fixed The Potatoes! We sat down for a much anticipated dinner of mashed potatoes and water but the triumph was short lived. the garlic potatoes were too strong. and i was left to eat them alone{actually i kinda liked it:)} as Kylee used the rest of the red potato mix to make her own serving of buttery potatoes.
Growing up i was taught that the wall is something you don't touch, or do anything to for that matter. i am being instructed now on how much that isn't true when your wife is an interior design major. Bare walls to me say, "more spacious" but fashionably that just won't do. so yesterday i was put on pin and nail duty as we put up three new wall clocks eight or more frames of quotes and pictures. FYI, " live, laugh, love" may be an inspiring phrase but how many times can one person see that and still get the same kick out of it? i don't know but in a year it just won't hold the same meaning for me. we'll have to move on to something like, " keep your stick on the ice, we're all pulling for you" -Red Green

the start of a very interesting journey

Life is a journey That takes many twists and turns Kind of like a river that moves through rough waters and calm meadows.
this river of mine has just come to merge with the crystal blue waters of Kylee, a deceptively deep and fast moving river. Combining our lives and our experiences into a mix of similarities and complimenting opposites that make each day an adventure. the waters are not always smooth sometimes we we are like two mules pulling on either side of a tow rope. but it surprises me how her eye for fashion and my knack for function can meld together into a beautiful and working home.
We have just about finished unpacking and organizing our personal things and all of the wonderful gifts that our family and friends gave us for our reception. It was quite a surprise to come home to our apartment and find it wall to wall stocked with presents. so almost a week later we have made headway and even found some room to live in. I am so grateful that Kylee is a wiz at not only organizing but making it look perfectly placed in the new space saver shelf i put together for her in the bathroom.
Currently it has sort of been my responsibility to take care of the dishes, the cooking, and some of the sweeping as Kylee goes to work every day. I like it! I've tried pancakes, strawberry shakes, and even baked potatoes. I think my best dinner so far was the chicken and potatoes that we had the first night. granted I'm not Mr. Mom just yet but i have been tempted to pull out out of the flirty aprons that Kylee brought with her.
Hi five to who ever thought of having a DI so close to our apartment here in Logan! I think i might just shop there more than i do at Walmart. we just barely found the coolest entertainment center to fit the tv and playstation. so what if it has a few gouges in the side. According to the law of FUNCTION, it works so lets keep it. but the FASHION says, Eeew!!! hmmmmm... lets paint it. So the verdict is we will keep it but later this summer it will be blackish brown or brownish black. she could probably tell you the exact colors but that is beyond me.

Jake, Man of the house keeping!
