Home sweet Home

One thing I love about Christmas vacation is having a week to go back home to Utah valley and not having to cook for a whole week! Actually I love being around our families and having so many people to talk to. We spent the nights at the Wood's house and spent the days at the Jensen's house and countless stores. Christmas was pretty special. Talking with Kylee's brother Jeremy over in New Jersey and then watching everyone open the presents we gave them made it very memorable.
What I wasn't expecting was how excited I was to be back in Cache Valley last night. Coming home to our three little fish and a sink full of dishes made me feel needed and responsible. So Yes I loved being home for the holidays and Yes I loved coming back to our own home. Does that makes Sense? Logan is starting to feel very much like home.

A Special Occasion

Today was Fast and Testimony meeting at Church. Since the time I left on my mission to Peru I haven't gotten up to share my testimony from the pulpit. My excuse for those two years was that i got to share it everyday and others should have the chance to share their's. I don't know what my reason has been for the last two years though. I don't think there was a reason not to, I just didn't. But today I knew I had to. As a baptized member of the church I promised to be a witness of Christ in all times and all places.
So I sat there trying to think of what I was supposed to say. With the scriptures open in my hand I flipped through the pages hoping that something would come to me. I said a prayer asking God to help me know what to say. As I finally decided that with or without something to say I would go up and share what I know, I was given what I just prayed for. A strong feeling of love came over me as my thoughts turned to how today was the Christmas devotional of the first Presidency of the Church and that two years ago I asked Kylee to be my wife. I was able to share with the ward how I know that God led me to be with Kylee and that He has blessed me everyday of my life with what I need most. I know He loves me and that He watches over me because He has promised me that I can be with Kylee for all eternity. Jesus Christ made that possible through His atonement and resurection.
thanks for reading this long post, I hope it brings the spirit closer to you all.

jake, in His name, Amen.

Finally Done!

What's done you ask? The biggest project of my Junior year of college!
Every year the Juniors get a project from an Interior Designer and about
a month later we present to them. This year Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe
from LA {Nickey-Kehoe} came. We were given a dining room to design.
Its in a craftsment style, Hollywood home for a screen writer. We designed
custom furniture, a custom light fixture, a custom rug and a custom plate.
Here is my project :)

MY BEAUTIFUL PLATE!

MY RUG :)

My presentation went well, the designers loved it and so do I!
I'm super glad its over, now I can get back to life.
Maybe our apartment will actually get cleaned now :)

When a Prophet Speaks

For those of you who were able to go to or hear President Uchtdorf in the Relief Society session of Conference... We've Got Your Forget-Me-Not Seeds.

No I really didn't go or hear his talk but from all of the seed customers that have constantly been asking for forget-me-not flowers I'm pretty sure it was pretty moving.
I would say a few dozen or so people have asked us at Anderson's Seed and Garden when we will be getting in a new shipment of these seeds. the thing is we have never carried them. So what would any wise business do? Get some seeds! Of course we were all brainstorming on how else to monopolize on this situation and personally I think we should send President Uchtdorf a letter asking him to speak on how using Fertilizer is like faith. that may help us out after April conference.

The last few weeks in rehab

In case I didn't get to tell you in person, I recently went through the craziest bike accident by far. this was even wilder than when I broke my arm answering the phone at 17mph. this time I'm sure I was going atleast 25mph when i saw the tight rope strung infront of me, about three feet in front of me to be exact. My reaction time is great, but its not that great. Tight rope walking is a club here at USU that not many people really like and most find annoying seeing as most of the time they just stand there and stare at the rope. Bikers find them to be lethal.
So I landed on by back, my bike took a hard hit, and my brand new laptop... not a scratch(thank goodness). my legs took the brunt of the hits and I wish I could have seen the replay to know just what hit where. while hobbling home i felt kinda woozey and by the time I was in the front door i had a fever that didn't breakt till after general conference on saturday.
For the last two weeks I've been trying to recooperate mobility in my legs. It's kinda slow going. I feel okay when i keep moving around but after sitting through class my knee is as stiff as a rusty joint. I get the feeling this is what old age is going to be like(and this accident probably ensured it).

-jake, i don't think it should bend that way.

Leaves are falling all around

I love fall! All the pretty colors and the nice crisp feeling in the air. We just finished decorating for fall.
I am loving the Indian corn and pumpkins we found. They definitely give our apartment a fall feeling.

Project Inspiration

I'm in the process of finding inspiration for one of my other projects.
It's for this place called 'The Cosmic Nudge' an alternative healing facility.
Our client loves nature and such. I'm coming up with a few different ideas to
present to her. One of the ideas I have has to do with peacocks.

I am starting to LOVE peacock. Their color and patterns are amazing!
I hope she loves this idea as much as I do!

{Ian't this picture AMAZING?!}

I also love these shoes! So fun!

having two homes

It has only been three weeks into the semester and I can just imagine how crazy this year is going to be. It's not my classes i'm worried about. They are the kind of classes you can just sit through and get a 90% on the final I planned it that way so I'd have time to study extra classes to test out of them.
What I didn't count on was how tough Kylee's classes were going to be. so far this semester we've already had about five late nights in the studio working on projects that are due the next morning. I actually like this time. It's a nice place with WiFi and fun people and enough space to openly work on homework and reading assignments. I only Hope Kylee can survive this onslaught of deadlines. It's quite a sight to see all these Interior Design majors go nuts at the same time.

Jake, i pay rent so i can stay the night at school.

What I'm currently working on...

For our first project we get to design a traditional living room. We were split into four groups and given a client.
My group's clients are Roger Spielman and Ted Backman. They are from Wales and currently live in Oregon. Roger and Ted own a Vineyard.

This is my rough sketch of what the room will look like.

What do I want to be now that i'm grown up?

For Labor day Kylee and I went down to that awesome little town in central Utah called Holden. It's funny though how at this age the only question on everyone's mind is "how is school?" and "what are you going into?"
I am grateful that everyone wants to know but I feel bad that i don't have an exciting answer like Bio-engineering, Landscape Architecture, or even deaf studies. I think it is because I have a different outlook on work than most do. There are hobbies and there is work. for some people they can be combined and that is great. For me I don't think there is enough money in gardening, training pets, and playing video games combined to make the kind of living that our future retirement goals will require.
Now I'm not worried that I'm doomed to a desk job in a cubicle next to Dwight Schrute. Even though work for me is just a means to and end I'm pretty confident that I'll find ways to make it a fun ride to retirement. How do I know this? I'm Jacob Wood! I am the master of the easily entertained. I will probably have the coolest desk toys and trinkets in the entire Office building.

Jake, I tinker with trinkets

Good bye summer, Hello free time.

I guess it's a great thing for a newly married guy to work as often as possible while on summer break. It's been a great blessing to have excessive amounts of funds for saving up instead of getting into debt with student loans. Luckily school came and my schedule leaves me a nice three hour chunk of time between my morning classes and my afternoon classes. presently that is the perfect time to just sit down somewhere on campus and blog. I'm sure by the time i get half way into all of my classes i will be using this time to study and cram for quizzes. But for now it is just a great time to relax from work, school, and all cares of the world. I think I will take a nice nap now and recover from my intense work-eat-sleep-work summer routine.

Jake, yes i hit the snooze button again.

I think I've found it

Found what you ask? I've found our blog look. After a year or so of changing the look of our blog every month or two I've found a look I love! What do you think? Is it a keeper?

Like our banner? It's Jake's and my silhouettes. Pretty cool eh? :)

Lemon Wreath

You probably all know this but just in case one of you missed the memo .... I love yellow!
Though I have been leaning more towards aqua/teal lately my love for yellow is still strong.
Anyways, since I still love yellow and since its still technically summer I made a wreath that fits in both of those categories!

The Lemon Wreath!

I saw the idea on pinterest  {most wonderful place ever! if you don't know what it is look it up. it is awesome!} which then referred me to Ordy and Joon who helped me make it.

Isn't it beautiful!

It makes me smile every time I open the door.

I love buttons!

Every time I see a button I stop to think about how I can make it into a ring.
Here are some buttons that are soon to be rings.

These red ones have the coolest texture :)

Super excited for these yellow ones!

And of course there are all these {and more} lovely beads!

Have a great night!
